While abandonment is certainly occurring all over the world, it’s sometimes easy to forget that it’s happening here in the U.S.
This week, we were reminded of that reality when a 13-year-old mother left her newborn baby inside a dumpster in Merced, CA. The baby, who was discovered by a passerby collecting recyclables, still had her umbilical cord attached and was covered in trash. By the grace of God, she survived.
Today, we ask that you pray for this precious baby girl. Ask God to protect her and provide her with a loving family. Pray that she would grow up knowing God’s love and her importance to Him.
Additionally, pray for her biological mother. Ask God to show her His love as well and meet all of her needs, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. After all, she is only a child herself.
Finally, pray for all of the mothers and children in crisis all around the U.S. Pray that God would surround them with love and support and that no baby would ever be abandoned.
“Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” Psalm 27:10
