We’ve been asked many times how the “average” person can help Pastor Lee. It’s a question that has been somewhat difficult for us to answer. Most people who contact us don’t live in South Korea so beyond prayer, financial contribution, and sharing Pastor Lee’s story, it seems difficult to take action.
However, one thing God has revealed to us over and over is that Pastor Lee is a symbol. We support him because he needs help providing for his family and continuing his work on behalf of the underrepresented, but more than that, we support him because he is a symbol for the protection of life!
After all, there are “Pastor Lee’s” all around the world - people who have sacrificed much to serve “the least of these.” So our answer to the question “how can the average person help” is this: do what you can to help those defending the abandoned, orphaned, disabled, etc. around you. If you can’t do what Pastor Lee and others are doing around you then support them by offering whatever resources you have available to you.
This is what it is going to take to make a difference: People who commit to living out what the Bible calls “pure religion” - caring for the fatherless and the widows in their affliction and supporting those who already are!
This week, pray that God would put on your heart ways in which you can participate. Whether it’s contributing financially to an organization, volunteering your time, or simply through committed prayer, we all can play a part! Ask that He would give you the desire to pursue “pure religion” and the strength and boldness to carry it out on a daily basis!
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27 (KJV)
